Introduction

 A few years ago I was challenged to find the best album from the year I was born, 1980. 

I created a bracket system, 4 brackets and 16 teams per bracket. I separated them by Genre. Rock, Top 40/R&B, Hip-Hop/Dance, Heavy Metal. I decided to not include Metal with Rock, being that Rock is my preferred genre I wanted it to have a bigger representation. Hip-Hop wasn't as big in the 1980s so I've had to be very liberal with my definition. 

I name a winner of each genre to create a Final Four then they battle it out. My Final Four for 1980 was 1) Queen- The Game, U2- Boy, Black Sabbath- Heaven and Hell and Donna Summer- The Wanderer. The final came down to Queen v Black Sabbath with Queen getting the win. 

Now I'm expanding on that idea. I'm going to be looking for the best album of every year I've been alive. I'm currently working on 2002 and have 1997 coming up next. I decided to not go in chronological order so I don't get bored of one time in music history. 

I have already started the 2002 search and will soon be going through the matchups one by one. Writing about each one will help me compare them also.
